Ooops, I Did It Again...

When I sew, I like to 're-invent the wheel' a lot...I hate to follow patterns...want to 'blaze my own trail' (Har)

Of course this means that I often make something once, just to try it, then make it again 'for real'.

I generally use some ghastly fabric for attempt #1 (being frugal!?!?), and once in awhile, when it comes out perfectly the first time, I'm left with something...well...ghastly.

My daughter L thinks this is ridiculous...with the piles of lovely fabric that I have and could use.

Well, I did it again, but this time with felting!

I wanted to try to make a pillow form cover (as a gift for my very special blogger friend, S), but I wanted to do a
test first (as is recommended by all the best felters!)...to see how much it would shrink, etc.

...but in case you haven't noticed, I cannot draw to save my life (hence the 7-year old 'arrested artistic development' pillow top!)

I was happy with my 'real' piece, though. I made variegated fluffy batts on my new Cardatrice, layered them, then
needle-felted the leaves using green pencil roving.

The backside came out a little wonky, but my friend is forgiving.

I think you did very good work with the pillow. And I rather love your fumbly art work with the green. Looks like leaves. :) And the backing is gorgeous!! I'm partial, as you know.
