Vancouver Trip (More Stores!)- Part 5 of 6

There's a terrific 'time traveler' atmosphere...

...in this fun, retro hat shop.

They sell hats suitable for both men and women...

...in styles appealing to poets, hipsters...

                                               ...swing dancers, alte kakers...

...and 'everyday' kinds of people. :)

                                                There's even a Feather Bar...

...for customizing your brand new fedora! :)

Vancouver boasts many other interesting shops, as well! ;)

                                              During our downtown rambles...

...we kept seeing women in these fabulous, strange shoes!

After a bit of detective work...

                                           ...we discovered their colourful source...

                                                  ...the Fluevog shoe company!

                                        Their philosophy, "Embrace Peculiarity"...

...is definitely one I can get behind! ')

Next time: some of my Canadian purchases!

Vancouver Trip (Fabric Store)- Part 4 of ?

Downtown Vancouver has a number of wonderful fabric stores...

...but this one was our favorite.

                                                   Here's my friend, Sandy...

...heading into Dressew's 'Halloweened halls'! ')

                                                  Judging from the crowds...

...this is 'the' place for Halloween costumes!

People were picking out masks and wigs...

                                                                  ...hats...

...plastic accessories (like helmets and swords)...

                                                           ...feather boas...

                                                                 ...gloves...

...and other fun props, like giant diaper pins...

                                         ...makeup, pennants, and giant scissors!

Dressew also carries a huge assortment of quality fabrics...

                                                  ...leather, ribbons, thread...

...zippers, buttons, and other sewing notions.

                                                     We loved it so much...

...we actually made three trips here!! :)

                                                         Disco ball anyone?

Next time: fabulous shoes and hats!

Vancouver Trip (Downtown)- Part 3 of ?

The view from our Yaletown apartment.

Enjoying a rich, ten year old tawny port...

...marcona almonds and 'smelly cheese' for our nibbles.

Cutting fat slices from a gorgeous 'slow rise' loaf from this incredible bakery!

One of the things that makes Vancouver so special...

...is that no matter where you are in this (big) city...

...nature is not too far off.

                                                      Stanley Park, for instance...

                                           ...with its eminently walkable seawall...

...makes 'getting back to nature' a rather easy thing to do!

Of course we had to make a stop at the Vancouver Flea Market...

...with over 300 tables filled with eclectic merchandise.

Here, my very game friend, Sandy...

...models her husband's new loupe light spectacles!

We ate in a number of different restaurants while we were there...

...but the food at this Lebanese restaurant was so delicious...

...we had to go back a second time! :)

                                                  Next time: we go shopping!

Vancouver Trip (Granville Island)- Part 2 of ?

One glorious autumn day...

...my friends and I took the Aquabus from David Lam Park...

                                              ...to charming Granville Island.

It's a place filled with theatre and art...

...and cunning shops stuffed with many splendid things!

                                                 We adored The Cloth Shop...

                                                    ...a specialty quilt shop...

                                                     ...filled with original kits...

                                               ...and unique and lovely fabrics.

It was the Silk Weaving Studio, however...

...which really made our fibery hearts skip a beat!

                                        Featuring hats and handwoven scarves...

                                                                ...shawls...

                                                        ...delicious buttons...

                                          ...and drool-worthy hand-dyed yarns...

...this shop had something for every fiber lover!

Of course our day wouldn't have been complete...

...without a delicious stop at the Public Market.

                                              Next time: downtown Vancouver!
