Striped Yarn Sample Tote

Winding wool and silk blend yarn...

...loosely around the resist...

...then covering side one with variegated wool roving.

After flipping the project to side two...

...additional layers of roving are added.

The top of the project is folded down...

                                                    ...to make a distinct edge.

                                                     Mid-way through felting...

                                                    ...the resist is removed.

The piece is then turned right side out...

...and 'U'-shaped slits are cut for the handle.

                                                  The finished tote (front)...

                                                               ...and back.

If all things go as planned...

...I'll be teaching an "Inside-Out" Wet-Felted Mini Tote Class...

                                            ...in Minnesota this September.

Both this tote and this recent one...

...were made as 'concept samples' for my class...

...and I'll have quite a few more finished totes to show you in the coming weeks...

...featuring different felting techniques and design elements.

Terriea-Thanks! I do have a certain 'preference' for bag-making!! ;)
Thanks, Rachel-It's yarn that I've used for other projects, too, and it felts so well!
Fiona-I hope so! I've made lots of different samples and will probably make lots more before September! :)
