Finished WIP- Pinky-Orange 'Dreads' Purse

Cutting (and stitching together) strips of pink leather for the strap.

Cutting out bright fabric for the purse lining...

...and adding velcro fasteners.

Stitching the lining and strap to the finished felt.

Pulling the sewn-together pieces through an opening in the bag lining.

The attached lining, prior to tucking it into the purse.

                                                                    The finished bag (wiggly side)...

                                                                                  ...and spiral side.

The finished bag with a green felt inner pocket.

I was very happy to finish this project...

...and finally put this fun bag to use!

Finding the perfect lining for each fabric-lined bag...

...is a special joy for me. :)

Because I didn't 'think ahead' about a pocket for this one...

...I ended up hand-stitching a green felt pocket to the fabric lining...

                                                                             ...for extra functionality!

The finished purse looks GREAT! Your use of a lining, especially with such cute fabric, really adds a touch of professionalism to an already great project!

It's an enchanting bag - love the combination of spirals on one side dreadlocks on the other!

Suzanne--I'm glad you like the pocket! I was disappointed that I hadn't thought ahead to make a fabric one, prior to stitching the lining together, but it turns out that the green one is really easy to find inside the bag...even with my eyes on the road!! :)
Lindy--Another case of making a silk purse from a sow's ear...this fabric is pretty OVERT in a larger swatch, but it seems just right in a diminutive bag like this! :)
Rachel--Thanks! The spirals are half silk and half wool, so they really shimmer. It's nice! :)

SUPER! Fantatic with the lining and the leather strip. Goes so well. REALLY love the style and shape, partically the round and board shape of the bottom.

Alexandra--I'm glad you like the wild lining!! :)
Terriea--When I dry the finished bags, I block them by stuffing them with rolled towels or placemats to get just the shape that I want.

Karen--Thanks!! The silk and wool roving was hand-dyed by my friend, Joan Berner and it's really beautiful...hence the shimmery spirals!! :)
