Engagement Party Purse- Part 2 of 2

Mid-way through felting...

...and after trimming the purse flap into a nice, rounded shape.

A view of the 'dreads' side of the purse...

...and one of the unadorned side...

...with dreads that will later fold over to become part of the flap.

The finished purse front with my flower-embellished aqua shoes...

...and the back side of the purse...

...notice how the handle is pulled through a small hole on each side and knotted.

Check out my matching pedicure! Giggle.

For those of you who asked, here's a photo of me all dressed for the party...

...accompanied by my three youngest daughters.

(Aren't we just a riot of color?!?) :)

As you can see, I oriented the 'dreads' so that the ones on the flap...

...cover the plain part of the purse front without adding extra bulk.

I used a large sew-on snap for the bag closure...

...and made a thin cord from merino roving for the handle.

Since it's a 'special occasion purse'...

...it's just big enough for keys, a cell phone and tissues. :)

Dear Heather, you're all looking very smart and I love the way you are color coordinated!!! The bag turned out really well!! Now, I understand how you make the 'dreads' and flap. Want to try that out on a purse I promised to make for my mother in law... Hope you don't mind stealing your technique... BUT first I have to finish my teacosy Love, Alexandra.

Andrea--Thank-you!! It's too bad that the photo was taken before we got to my eldest daughter's house, since she is missing from the photo...but it's the only one I have. :(
Alexandra--You are very welcome to try anything that I make here...I love that!! Please send word when you've posted it, and I will be sure to admire your beautiful work!! XXO-

Love all that blue color coordination. :) And that's a super photo - you're all looking summery before the party.

Deborah--Thanks! Yes--it was a lovely party and a chance to meet many of my future son-in-law's family members for the first time.
Rachel--Hahaha...glad you like my 'blue toes'!! :)
Denise--The bag may have worked even better with the blue-grey dress option, but I went with my daughter's choice that night. XO-

Sandie--Yes...even with a little rain that day, the tent kept us all dry and happy. :)
