Felt Jacket 'Details' and Giveaway Winner

The finished coat front...

...and back...

...and a close-up of some of the Mawata silk hankies that I used.

(The blue wispy bits near the center of the photo.)

The cuffed sleeve.

The bit of raw silk at the edge of the hem.

(I'm grateful to my good friend, Kathy, for her masterful 'serging'!)

Adding a leather buttonhole and button 'support'...

...shown with coat open...

...and closed.

The completed jacket.

Since I've been home from my workshop...

...I've managed to finish the last few details on my jacket.

My friend, Kathy, machine serged (overlocked) the edges of the raw silk for a more finished look...

...and I added a lovely ceramic button with leather buttonhole and button 'reinforcement'.

That is stunning! The color combo is just great. How hard was it to shape so it fit?

Love the way you made the edge without wool so it looks "airy". Also the support of button hole with leather. Pretty jacket. Congrats to Karen for the gorgeous purse.

Thanks to all of you for the lovely comments!!
Senna--It is not lined, it's just nuno felt made with a layer of silk and two fine layers of wool roving.
Elizabeth--The shape mostly came from the resist pattern (which was quite a feat of drafting...thank goodness for our excellent teacher!), but a bit of shaping took place during felting, too...esp. around the collar.

Vivian--I'm glad that you think the colors 'work', since it was rather unplanned. :)

Oh Heather!
This is so stunning! The contrasting colours just make it shine! I wish I could see it and feel it in person! How light is the felt? As in drapable? Beautiful composition! xoFiona

Fiona--Thanks so much...and as for the seeing it in person, you are welcome to come visit me anytime!!!!
It is very soft, light and drapable...and contrary to my earlier estimates, I must have used less than a pound of roving, since the total coat weight (including buttons and leather bits) is 17 ounces.
Deborah--Thank-you! (I have yet to give it an 'inaugural spin' out yet, but I will.) :)
