My "Bird Beak" Purse From Fiona's Class- Part 2 of 2

                                                    Mid-way through felting...

...adding a few extra details to the 'bird's eye'...

...and a couple of felt loops at the top edge of the bag...

                                              ...for a strap attachment.

Here, the exquisite Fiona checks my progress.

The project, turned inside out, to check the interior pocket.

                                                 The very nearly finished bag.

Unfortunately, some of the decorative elements...

...were rather 'gobbled up' by the hairy red wool...

...but it's nothing a little judicious shaving wouldn't fix...

...(if I could ever manage to get around to it!) :)

The finished bag is just a fraction of the size of the original resist...

                                                    ...but it's still enormous! :)

There are two (nearly) full-sized interior sections...

...plus a well-defined and much smaller interior pocket.

The back of the finished purse...

...the front with 'Bird Beak' flap and short leather strap...

                                                       ...with the flap open...

...and the exterior pocket and flap interior showing.

Originally, I started out with this longer leather strap...

...but because the bag is already 18 X 15 inches in size...

...it functions better with the shorter one.

Maybe, rather than shaving, you could add further details and embellishment with needle-felting or with embroidery?
Shaving your careful work sounds so drastic...!

Oh HEATHER!!! This must be the project that Fiona told me about ( I was taking her online surface design workshop at the time) - she said "wait til you see what Heather is doing with felt lace"!!! This is such an amazing bag on soooo many levels!!!! I just LOVE everything about it! All the details, from surface design to construction are meticulous and the result BLOWS MY MIND!!! It is gorgeous! xx

Rachel-Good idea, although that much embellishment sounds a bit 'drastic', too! Giggle.
O.K.- Thanks!
Sue- Thank-you! Deb B-H has been here the last few days and we were discussing your own beautiful (brown) bags, as well! XO

oooo Heather, it's lovely! Love the full size inner sectioning, the funky outer pocket, and the gorgeous colours. The leather and metal handle is the perfect accompaniment.. Beautiful work!
