You may remember the first bag that I made this way...
...using a quilt design as the bag's inspiration.
I used the same wonderful book of modern designs...
...to inspire this birthday gift for a friend, as well!
Working inside-out, I spread soap glue on the resist...
...then laid out my designs in pencil roving.
Next, I added layers of hand-dyed merino roving...
...and rubbed and rolled the piece until it was done.
After it was fully felted and dried...
...I stitched in a casing , made from two pieces of wide satin ribbon...
...and sewed and cut buttonholes for the drawstring 'exits'.
Next time: the finished bag!

Such a pretty color! Reminds me of orange sherbet. Those are lovely designs too. Can't wait to see the finished bag.

I like this one a lot. It feels delicate and feminine. :-)
The fern look is outstanding. I don't know how you placed it and made it very neat. I'm interested to see the finished one. Your bags always look very sturdy I love it.
Gosh what a pretty design, your work is fabu, I just want to get in there close and examine how it all comes together!
The pencil roving designs really amaze me, they look like hand-drawn!
I too like the fiddlehead fern design especially :)
Kathryn--'Delicate and feminine' usually means it's a project I don't plan to keep! Giggle.
Terrie--I'm glad you like my 'vegetation' on this one! :)
Melissa--It was a lot of fun to make, too.
Vivian--I copied the design from the quilt book. I couldn't have drawn it myself!
Beth--Oh, me, too!
This is beautiful. I've never seen this done. Love it!
Thank-you, Jess!
