Silk, Wool and Dyed Blue Locks Bag- Part 2

The open bag in all of its orbicular beauty! :)

Notice the pearlescent, vintage button.

The finished bag with the flap closed.

The bag back with its dyed blue locks 'tail'.

After felting a purse like this...

...there's one important step that I haven't talked much about...

...and that's blocking.

It's important to pull the bag into shape with your fingers while it's still wet...

...then stuff it with fabric, in order to hold it in place while it dries.

After drying overnight, I remove the fabric (usually cloth placemats)...

...and finish drying it, empty, so that the desired shape is preserved.

I'm happy with the cute egg shape of this bag...

...and the way the locks and multicolored roving coordinate with each other.

Good morning buddy,

Well, that's more like it;-) This bag is fantastic!!! Just read your "Superwash" post from yesterday (what a nightmare...from time, creative energy, hassle and poor customer service standpoints.) Glad you had a better day and outcome with this bag.

Big Hugs,
Dawn

It's a great bag! Love the colors and I think it's just right for a walk in the town on a springmorning when the sun is shining and the birds are singing! The smell of new leaves and fresh baked bread from the shop. Mmmmhhhhh. Hugzz..Peebee

Peebee--You are so poetic!! I would love to live in the world you describe!!
Els--Thanks! I think the tail is funny, too. Felt fashion doesn't have to be too serious, right? XXO-

I adore the blue. Yes, I read the post from yesterday. I good lesson to keep in mind. Sorry it ruined what would have been an amazing project. Yikes! Well...don't toss the superwash away...as a spinner, I know many of us who would eat it up to spin.

Just learning to felt, I haven't had to find a large quantity/low cost wool supplier yet...a major lesson you've imparted to us.

Andrea--I did send back the Superwash. They will replace it pound for pound with wool roving, but no extra for my time/expense/failed projects...so at least I will have supplies again.

Angela--Thanks! The roving that I used for this bag is a 'gift that keeps on giving'! I've made quite a few lovely projects with it, and I never would have chosen it myself!
