'Spring Break" Throws- Part 4 (Fini!)

Wetting out the throw.

Dyed silk ribbon and a stylized bird.

Mushroom close-up after felting.

The finished throw.

Working in a larger format like this can be a little daunting...

...but since I had my daughter for company and help with rolling, this one was a breeze!

We used far fewer 'add ons' for this throw than for her twin's...

and tried to choose only the ones which we knew felted-in best.

I love the dyed silk ribbon that H-1 put at the top of the tree...

...a swap gift from my friend, Linda.

I was also really delighted with my daughter's pre felt bird...

...and its little protruding beak! :)

Because I absolutely LOVE each of my daughters...

...and prefer spending time with them to anything else on earth...

...this creative time with H-1 was very special to me.

But it also reminds me of how it feels when I have the opportunity to create with other felters...

...and what a joyful, inspiring and just plain fun thing that is!!

What a fabulous project! I agree, being able to spend time with our daughters is priceless......I'm going to be really sad when mine are off into the world.

It's gorgeous!

Although your daughters each get a treasure to take back to school with them, I think you got the best gift having this wonderful time with each of them.

I absolutely LOVE how this creation turned out.

Lovely piece of art!!

I put a piece of silk into my strap of the bag. Only wool is not strong enough!!

Have a nice weekend, Els

What a wonderful throw. I never thought about wet felting something of this size, but I bet it is really light and warm. It's stunning.

Thanks, Kelly...but I think you'll be surprised and pleased by the reality of having grown daughters, even when they're far away. Enjoy each moment without regret while they're with you and I don't think you'll feel as sad about them leaving when that time comes! :)
Thanks, Andrea and Amanda!
Els--What a brilliant idea for the strap!! Thanks!!! XXO-

Beautiful piece of art work.

Chrissy--Yes-the layout is so big that it 'takes over' my entire felting table...but it gets easier to handle as it shrinks and firms up.
The wool that I used for the base is quite lovely. It stays really soft, even after hard felting, and I'm sure that my girls are enjoying them this week, now that our weather has grown so cold again!!

Although I'm not a felter, I really enjoy seeing what wonderful creations you've made.

How awesome that you can share such special time with your daughters.

Love the way that is just like a drawing! Great, she must be very proud of herself, helping with such a beautiful piece of art. Hugz...Peebee

Heather Woollove said...

Thanks, Sandie...yes, it's an owl.
Peebee--I love how it looks like a drawing, too. I would never have made something like this on my own!

Linda--Yes...both of my youngest girls should be around for some of your visit, anyway...so we'll have their help and inspiration! (H-2 loves to grate up olive oil soap!!)
Vivian--Thanks, but this particular throw was all my daughter's doing!! I really can't draw at all, I'm afraid... nothing 'representational' for me!!) :)

wow! i LOVE the throws you made with your daughters. they are amazing (your daughters and the throws!) but then, with a creative mum as you are, it's natural to think they would be.

it must be lovely to work on something together with them, creating lots of happy memories as well as a wonderful throw too, although they wouldn't look out of place hung as art either! :)x

Tracy--Yes. Being with my girls IS a joy (we laugh a LOT!!). I'm lucky that they want to spend time with their Mama!! :)
