Laying out the bag back and flap.
Raw Icelandic fleece.
The bag front and inner pocket flap.
Cutting the handle.
I regularly participate in Clasheen's felt and fiber swaps...
...and this time, I was paired with Nicola, herself!
Knowing that she's a green-loving girl...
...I wanted to make her a bag that she'd really enjoy using.
I laid out white and green wool roving...
...and added my version of poppy flower accents.
I placed a wild blob of raw Icelandic fleece on the back of the bag...
...and a 'beard' of it on the bag front.
Next time...
...the finished bag!

heather, i don't know what to think of your bearded bag? my husband is scottish and on his kilt he wears a bearded bag, called a sporran. Bur i don't see any poppies on it hihi:)
Riet--I make no secret of the fact that I really cannot draw at all.
Alas, those red and black things on the bag flap ARE my poppies!! :)
I hope you'll like them better when you see the finished purse.
ooooh, I can't wait to see the finished piece. I really do enjoy your posts where you show the development then the reveal.
Eager to get to work so I can hurry home and check my mailbox.
Happy Fiber Arts Friday!
Lovely purse and the poppies are great!
Thanks, Andrea and Tamara!!
Your felting is great, I love that you're showing us step by step. Have a great week!
Thanks, Melissa...hope your week is great, too!
You know me so well Heather!!! I just LOVE this bag and considering I have two pairs of red shoes, two pairs of red boots and one pair of red clogs the poppies were an inspired touch!!!!! For those of you interested in a sneak preview of the finished bag in it's home setting here it is! http://www.flickr.com/photos/28367475@N02/5396030052/in/set-72157608081700918/ XXX
I like seeing the process of making the bag. I look forward to seeing the result!
This bag is so marvelous. Lucky Nicola. Thanks for your process photos and clear explanations. And, I think
vilterjetje meant that on her husband's bearded bag she doesn't see poppies! Yours are a great addition!
Very pretty purse. Love the green and the icelandic fiber is very nice. Happy Fiber Arts Friday!
Awesome!
I'm interested to see how it turns out when it's all finished!!
Jess
I know I'm supposed to comment on the FAF post, but I really love that white scarf from your Wednesday post!
Nicola--Yes...we definitely both love our colorful shoes, don't we?
Thanks, Allison!
Ginny--Hahaha...it wouldn't be the first time that Riet and I miscommunicated! She admired a wild vase some time ago and I thought she was kidding! :)
Thanks Ally, NaWD, Jessie and Beth!
Love it. Can't wait to see the finished project.
Thanks, KBG!!
