'Mid-Week Sharing' Felter's Fling 2013- Part 2 of 2

Sample rugs take shape...

...in Karolina Arvilommi and Rod Welch's class.

By mid-week, small, 'trial' sections of our rug designs...

...were completed by each member of our class.

You may be surprised by the enormous quantity of wool that's required...

...to create these dense, intensely patterned pieces.

Sampling helped most of us to refine our final design strategies...

...resulting in quite altered large-scale rugs later.

Here is my initial lay-out...

...and my fully felted sample piece, drying.

Next time: We start our full-sized rugs!

'Mid-Week Sharing' Felter's Fling 2013- Part 1 of 2

Beautiful, glowing felt lamps.

Inspiration boards...

...and felt samples.

Adorned shawls.

Dresses made in only three days...

...(fronts)...

...and backs.

This is only a small sampling of the amazing work...

...accomplished by my 'Fling-mates' during the first half of the week.

Next time: mid-week photos from 'my' rug class with instructors Karolina and Rod.

Felter's Fling Student Exhibition- Part 2 of 2

A felt marionette...

...and an abstract rug...

...were displayed 'cheek by jowl'...

...with these felt garments.

There was a leather and felt purse...

...and more felt paintings...

...a 'cat cocoon', rugs...

..and highly textured shawls...

...plus felt wearables in all colors...

...and for all climates...

...and even a felt backgammon board!

There were beautiful garments...

...and wonderful purses, as well!

Next time: more paintings, purses...

'Felt Fashion Show' Felter's Fling 2013- Part 2 of 2

What else was on display that night?

This painstakingly created 'pine needle felt' dress...

...and this flouncy nuno number.

We saw garments in various shapes, colors...

...textures...

...and lengths...

...and wearables for both formal and casual occasions.

Felt artists dance and whirl in this outdoor 'runway show'...

...inspired by the beauty of Charity Van de Meer's glorious garments!

Thanks, Dawn, for this close-up photo of Charity (center)...

...her lovely dresses, and models! :)

Next time:  Images from the student exhibition.
