Once the project is dry...
...each short end is carefully trimmed...
...leaving an overlapping bit of silk gauze.
The long ends are also trimmed...
...to form a neat rectangle.
The runner is placed on a length of solar pool cover...
...and the silk gauze is folded to the back on each short end.
The project is wetted out...
...and felting begins anew.
Mid-way through felting...
...the inclusions are beginning to crinkle...
...and become delightfully textural.
The front of the finished piece...
...and the back.
Close-ups...
...of the pre-felt pieces, crinkly silk gauze and inclusions.
This runner was created as a gift...
...for the wedding of a wonderful friend of mine...
...and his long-term partner.
Congratulations, you two...
...here's wishing you a lifetime of love...
...and great joy!
