"Caps For Sale" Hat- Part 6 of ?

Finally, the felting begins...

...and my project begins to shrink...

                                                        ...and become firmer.

Some of the yarn embellishments have 'popped off' during felting...

...but since these will be on the inside of the hat, it's not a problem.

When it's safe to do so, the soft felt is sliced open...

                                                   ...and "thumbs" are cut...

...to allow the monkey's hands to emerge. :)

                                                     The resist is removed...

...and this smiling face is revealed...

...as the project is turned right-side out.

With a sharp needle and lengths of wool yarn...

...a 'hairdo' is stitched into the soft felt.

Next time: my felting continues in earnest...

...as I work to harden and shrink the hat to size.
