Because I'm working inside-out (as usual)...
...the pre-felt 'monkey face'...
...is wrapped around the back of the resist and wetted out...
...then covered by a layer of white wool roving...
...and rimmed by wool and yarn embellishments...
...in 'monkey fur' colors.
One piece of the checked pre-felt is added...
...along with a layer of silk gauze (for structural support)...
...and short lengths of yarn are added to the 'arm'.
White wool is added to the 'monkey face'...
...and layers of warm brown roving top the yarn embellishments.
The project is flipped to side two...
...and the whole process is repeated.
Because the back sides of the 'monkey hands'...
...and the interior of the visor will be visible during wear...
...I added embellishments to these areas, as well.
Next time: (Finally)...the felting begins!!
