Machine-Embellished Nuno Scarflette (Prototype)- Part 1 of 3

Assembling some of my supplies...

...silk paj, pre-felt snippets...

                                             ...and a teased-open silk cap.

At first, I included a hand-crocheted scrumble, too...

...but, as you'll see later, I end up ripping it off.

                                                  Wetting the project out...

...and covering it with a thin layer of wool roving.

After wetting out the project, yet again...

...I add snippets of red silk...

...(repurposed from a thrift store blouse)...

...a layer of black silk gauze...

...and a morceau of polka dot-printed silk on each side.

                                              Side one, mid-way through felting.

Removing the aberrant crocheted bit. ;)

                                               The fully felted scarflette, drying.

Next time: I go a little wild with my sewing machine!

Thanks, Kim! This one is a prototype, so you'll see over the next few weeks that I change things up a bit with each one.

I've never used so much silk to so little wool, I'm a little nervous to for some reason.. This is looking wonderful, I can;t wait to see it's progression :)

Deborah- It is really amazing how one thin layer of wool can connect so many silk layers, isn't it?
