Wet-Felted Jewel-Tone Hat- Part 2 of 2

Mid-way through felting...

                                                               ...and again...

                                                          ...during fulling.

The finished hat was dried in this 'accordion pleat' shape.

                                                    The pieces of pre-felt...

                                           ...(because they were applied first)...

...show up distinctly on the surface of the silk.

                                               Working inside-out as I do...

...I get a fun little surprise...

...each time a new project is revealed...

...and, here, the hand-dyed silk provides a lovely nubby texture...

   ...and jewel-like colors.

The brim was hand-stitched at a slight angle...

                                                    ...to provide a good fit.

                                                         A bird's-eye view.

The hat looks fabulous, Heather. Nice with the prefelt on the outside.

What a lovely cheerful hat!

Isn't it fun seeing it when it's loose and cloth like- and then shrinking down to something so thick, firm and able to stand alone? I think so. LOL
