'Felt United' Seaweed Tote- Part 1 of 3

Placing free-form knitted pieces onto the resist...

...and pinning them into place...

...in an 'open-weave' fashion...

...using the surface of an interlocking foam floor mat as an anchor.

Covering side one with wool roving...

...then wetting and turning the piece to side two...

...and pinning on additional knitted bits.

Adding wool roving...

...and wetting out side two...

...then folding in both top edges.

I'm taking a break from my 'Peculiar Projects' series...

...in order to celebrate Felt United with all of you!

Water is this year's theme...

...and I decided to take it in a direction that I have before...

...deep under the sea. :)

***********************************************************************************
One boring Saturday afternoon recently...

...I taught myself to knit by watching several Youtube videos(!)

Because my knitted pieces are to be used as embellishment for felted items...

...I felt no pressure to 'get it exactly right'...

...and it was (and continues to be) surprisingly enjoyable!!

Go ahead and say "you told me so" you knitters!

(You know who you are!!)  :)

Next time: I fashion an interior flap for security.

ooooh, I can't wait to see the finished piece. I am loving the color combo and the knitted texture with the wet felt.

Squeal!

Hooray for teaching yourself to knit.

Well, I must say that I am incredibly impressed. Your knitting looks marvelous in my eyes! I can't wait to see your Felt United project. I'm working on one last piece, too...and have used one of those beautiful batts that you made and gave me long ago, with blues and greens and silk and flecks of orange. I save some of my treasures for special occasions...and this seemed to fit the bill...so you and your batt will be in one of my Felt United pieces ;-)

Hope that you're having a great day.

Big hugs,
Dawn

Dawn--How wonderful that you are using those batts! I'm curious what your project might be?!?!
I was so surprised at how much I enjoy knitting! I've avoided it for so long, but I find it so portable and peaceful...plus, you can't snack while you're doing it! Grin.
Rachel--Hahaha..you will be pleasantly surprised, I think! ;)

Well, you have certainly piqued my curiosity! I can't wait to see the finished piece now! I already know it's going to be lovely. With those colors, how could it not? :)

And yes, I'm one of those that said "I told you so." At least I hoped it would end that way. LOL
