Portugal- Felt Flower Rings

Laying out the ring front...

...and back.

One finished ring...

...with a raw Bordeleria lock center, silk embellishments and beads.

A second ring, accented with mohair off-cut strands and Angelina...

...and cut into individual petals (on left).

A multicolored ring...

...with extra colored beads for 'bling'. :)

On our last morning of class...

...Nicola did a demonstration of felt flowers, beads and rings.

While I'm not generally much of a jewelry maker...

...I was rather taken with the jaunty style of her felted rings!

I made the first one with orange, short fiber merino...

...embellishing it with a small raw lock from the farm...

...(for remembering).

I also tried several more in different forms...

...cutting some into petals...

...and stitching on glass and colored beads for fun.

I may try making a few more of these at some point...

...since Nicola did a 'spiky' version that was really appealing! :)

They are great - real costume jewellery that doesn't try to be anything it's not but is just there for fun!

Love the fiber colors in that top one! I also really like it in its raw fiber form. I might have been tempted to just needlefelt it slightly, and call it done. :)

Those are too cute!
I like how you made the actual ring part too.

Deborah--I think they would make great party favors for teen-aged girls, too!
Denise--Yes, the peachy orange is nice, isn't it?!
Galina--Thank you!
Andrea--They are quick to make, too...and I'm sure if you did a few in a row, they would turn out much nicer than these first attempts of mine!

Your ones are so pretty with beads on. I really love the rings and done a few in the workshop. Already given to my friends in England. They love them. Just love the easy and "tricky" of making it. I made 2 last week. Loving it.

Your felt creations from the workshop are wonderful! Really inspiring.

Terrie--It doesn't surprise me that you've made more rings. You were making four beautiful ones at a time on our last day of class and putting us all to shame with your industry!! :)
Aileen--I'm delighted that you shared my blog with your readers today!!! Thank you for your kindness and sweet comments! XXO-

Hi Heather, Glad you and Terriea are having fun with the rings!!! I'd like to credit Sigrid and Ingrid Bannier for both introducing me to short fibre merino and sharing their method of felting the ring with the 5 spikes, good luck with yours!!!!!
