Portugal- Foodstuff Photos- Part 3 of 3

Stuffed quail eggs on slices of steamed sweet potato...

...garnished with rose petals and lavender buds.

Potato and fish croquettes.

Chickpea and tomato salad.

Fried bananas with cream on sweet potato 'plates'.

Falafel with mange-tout peas and olives.

Ripe honeydew melon with lemon prawns.

Thinly sliced onions and oranges with olives and herbs...

...and one final, simply beautiful table setting.

I think you'll agree that the colorful bounty of Dominio Vale Do Mondego farm...

...was on full display in each and every meal that was served.

It wasn't just the beautiful, fresh food that made events of our mealtimes, however...

...it was the leisurely pace and convivial atmosphere, as well!

Taking the time to talk and really listen...

...sharing poetry, stories and dreams...

...our meals became feasts!

Next time: handmade felt (really!)

A feast of food and activity, then - the best holiday in years, even if you were working hard and learning new things...

All of that looks just wonderful! I do like their liberal use of sweet potatoes. :) I would also be interested in trying the shrimp/melon plate - I'm not a big melon fan, but bet it might be a nice foil to the shrimp.

I found, when I was in Europe, that mealtime was approached much differently than here in the states, which is all about eat and run. We always seemed to take at least a few hours over meals in Europe, and really talked. Mealtimes are still some of the best memories of my trip!

I'm so glad I waited until lunch (which doesn't compare with this feast) to read this post.

Yummy!

Makes my salad and string cheese pale in comparison ;-)

I only have one thing to say. It is quite obvious that you did not starve while you were in Portugal. The scenery is gorgeous, the food looks amazing, and I'm sure it was. You could not help but have a wonderful time, and I can't think of anyone who is more deserving of this, than yourself. I'm so happy for you that you were able to make this dream a reality. :)

Heather, you've a good memory of the dish names and all those make me drooling again. Fernanda and Anna are GREAT. Every meal was so presentable. I like the poems reading of Karin and Eelco. Eating is an art!
