PINK Winner + Silk Blouse Pillow Cover

The pink table runner in happier times...pre-dyeing.

...and afterward...in all of its pink glory!

The lay-out for my re-purposed silk blouse pillow cover.

The finished pillow.

I drew a random winner from my four entries tonight...

...and the recipient of the very pink table runner will be Andrea (WonderWhyGal)!

********************************

When I make felt gifts for friends who are men...

...I always keep their gender in mind while I'm 'creating'.

If I've been to their homes (or know their taste well)...

...I also try to use colors that they (or their partners) favor.

My aim is to design pieces which are a little more plain/stylized/subtle than my usual work...

...but which still have a rich and vital appearance.

This pillow's eventual home...

...is the red leather couch of a male co-worker.

I chose several well-laundered silk thrift-store blouses.....

...and cut them into pieces.

I added some other things for interest, as well...

...snippets of bamboo viscose thrums and dyed dark-salmon neps.

Some of the neps (little dots of wool) fell off during the felting process...

...but I love each nubby little fellow who managed to 'tough it out'!

I am in love with this!!! How long do you have to roll to get all of those pieces incorporated?

Its gorgeous Heather! I LOVe the richness of the colours & all the texture.
Men are really rather difficult arent they?! Spot on job with this though - it will look great on red leather.

Hooray!
The pink table runner will have a happy home. Thank you.

I love the pillow and as you described what you did, I am learning that I have so much to learn and explore now that I have started to felt. It's a journey I'm going to enjoy.

Thank you!

Thanks, Deborah and Andrea!

Kelly--I didn't really roll it any more than usual. The trick is to 'veil' the silk with bits of wool...around the edges and lightly over the top, so it doesn't 'pop off' too much! Believe me, I am a beginner with these silk fabric ones, too. I kind of just wing it, and some come out more textured and a bit more 'sticking out' than others.
Sighhhh...oh, to be able to take a class in everything I want to learn! :)

Congratulations Andrea...Proud owner of a Heather Original.

Love the new pillow...We're probably all running to our closets to see what we can chop up to incorporate into our own works of art. Yours is fantastic! Beginner, schm-ginner (does that rhyme?)... Looks to me like you're a pro:-) Your co-worker is going to be happy as a clam. Hmmmm...Way happier than a clam:-)

Big hugs,
Dawn

Ummmm, Dawn?
We need to do a little work on this 'rhyme thing' you've got going here...giggle.
Big hugs right back at 'cha.

I am jealous of your co-worker, even if that gorgeous pillow would not go with anything I have, I think it's amazingly beautiful!

Congratulations to your "pink" winner. Enjoy!

:)
