Inventive Hungarian Hat Workshop- Part 7

Cutting the hat open...


                                         ...and removing the primary (foam) resist.



                                                     Making decorative slits...



                                                     ...in the front of the hat...



                                               ...and widening them slightly...

                                                          ...with a fingertip.



                                         Snipping a small hole in the 'hat lining'...

                                         ...and removing the bubble wrap resist.



                                                          Felting continues...



                               ...as the project is worked in various orientations...



                                                      ...for even shrinkage.



                                                         We're nearly there! 



                             Next time: all of the finished hats from our workshop!

Ahh, at last it makes sense. My three dimensional visualisation skills completely failed me on this one!

thank you so much for posting this insight in judit's workshop...if i had one dream in life,it would be to attend her hat making workshop,but i can never seem to catch it :((
cant wait for nb.8 issue of you're report,to see how it all ends...
p.s.could i ask for some advice?i love how you made the transition in colour...could you tell me what is the secret?with roving...i know how to make the effect with wool batting,but roving i am insecure

Natasha--as you make the color transition, use some fine fibers of the previous color on top of the new one.
