Hanging loops are added...
...and wrapped in a bit of thin plastic...
...(to protect them while I bash the bag around during felting). ')
As I rub and roll the piece...
...the colored fibers begin to make their way through the merino layers.
Removing the resist...
...and taking my first peek inside!
After turning the purse right-side out...
...the felting continues.
The white purse interior...
...allows for an easier survey of its contents during use.
The fully dried purse (back side)...
...and front.
Cutting a strap and buttonhole placket...
...from a sheet of green leather.
The finished bag...
...is a riot of colors and textures...
...and the woven disks...
...have become an integral part of the felt.
My daughter (for whom this was a gift) chose a button for the closure...
...an enameled 'Pisces'.
This festive bag...
...will bring a bit of cheer...
...to any cold and dreary day.

Lovely and bright :) The woven disks are a great design feature, looks like they felted in really well too xxx
.. and it will give any outfit a lift!
It was only quite recently that someone pointed out to me that a light lining makes all the difference in the world to finding things in a handbag, and now I'm getting quite pernickety about it. I'm glad you thought of that!
This is really a pretty purse, bright color combination with great textures. Thanks as always you're so kind and generous to share such wonderful ideas and steps of making.
Deborah--Yes-I was a little worried about that from the start (hence the machine stitching of the disks to the pre-felt), but I think they may have done pretty well even without all the sewing!
Rachel--I don't always remember to make the lining light-colored, but I have been thinking of it more and more often in the last few months. (I also often make really brightly colored internal pockets for the same reason!)
Terriea--You are very welcome! I cannot wait to see how you put your own 'signature' on one of these bags!
That is simply delightful!
Thanks, Kathy! I enjoy using other textiles in felting. They give such texture and warmth!
