Pleated Silk Nuno Scarf- Part 1 of 2

While I was in Vancouver...

...I bought some interesting pleated silk fabric...

...that I was anxious to fashion into a scarf.

A single layer of variegated wool...

                                              ...in oranges, pinks and golds...

...is placed on the surface of the silk at each end.

For the middle third, a warm brown roving is used.

Circles, made from lengths of dyed tussah silk...

...are added to the wool side of the scarf as embellishments.

As I roll the wetted out project...

...wool fibers are starting to travel through the silk...

...and the scarf is beginning to shrink

                                                When the moment is right...

                                                          ...fulling begins!

                                               Next time: the finished scarf.

Rachel--Funnily enough, I prefer the plain brown wool behind the silk. I find that it shows up the pleats best.
