"Dollie" (Fantasy Mask Class)- Part 4 of 5

Our fantastical masks at the close of our workshop...

                                                ...some nearly completed...

                                            ...and some still under construction.

                                                         As you can see...

...they run the gamut from the mythical...

                                                          ...to the humanoid...

...or to something you might actually find in nature.

When I first tried my mask on...

...it felt right to strike a regal pose...

...but it seems to have put Gladys in touch with her brawny side! ;)

Despite Dollie's mournful and reproachful gaze...

...I did manage to zip her into my carry-on for the flight home.

(I'm pretty sure my TSA agent wouldn't have been amused...)

                                                     Once back in the studio...

                                                 ...I re-wet and re-blocked her...

...taking care to 'pop out' the flanged bits of her headdress...

                                                         ...and breastplate...

...and to re-shape her (very odd looking) ears.

I also secured some of the loose wool flaps...

                                                 ...with a bit of hand-stitching...

...in preparation for some beading later.

                                                        Next time: my finished mask!

She would have caused rather a stir if you'd worn her going through security!

LOL Would of been hilarious if your bag was checked and dolly popped out!

Seeing all the masks together it looks like of a group of characters from Labyrinth :) Wonderful!
