Felted 'Mixed Wool' Envelope- Part 1 of 2

Applying thin layers of wool to the resist surface...


                                       ...(from a rather hairy, domestic wool batt)...



                         ...and covering them with a layer of variegated merino roving.



                                                          During the lay-out...

                                    ...a 'self-tie' cord is added to the tip of the flap.



                                                    Mid-way through felting...



                              ...hairy wool begins to migrate through the finer wool.



                                                    During the fulling process...



                                            ...the project flap is checked for fit.


                                              Next time: the finished envelope...

                                                ...with a ceramic button closure.
