Fashioning a paper pattern...
...and cutting two side pieces from green patent leather.
(Straps will be cut later from the same leather.)
From this flat felt piece and a bit of leather...
...a new purse will be born!
Making a leather buttonhole...
...and positioning it for sewing.
To reinforce the felt where the button will attach...
...I cut a small leather circle, punch holes into it...
...and sew it inside the purse, behind the button.
The finished button and buttonhole.
(Thanks, again, Deborah for this wonderful handmade button!)
The purse back...
...the open flap...
...and the purse front.

What wonderful autumnal colours!
Rachel-The green is very soothing, I think. :)
Great bag Heather, love the colours! Glad the buttons are coming in useful :)

Great purse- I love how you combined the leather with the felt. Did you also line the inside, or leave alone? Did you attach the leather strap by stitch only, or used some special tool? again, it's lovely. thanks for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous! The colors are perfect! I'm sure I am not surprising you with that opinion. LOL
Hope you are having fun.
Deborah-Yep.. I.love the buttons!!
Josie-The bag is unlined...just the felt...and I sewed on all of the leather bits using my trusty Bernina with a leather needle.
Sandie-Hahaha...it's your kind of green!
