'Painterly' Two-Layer Purse- Part 2 of 3

Removing the resist midway through felting...

...by cutting open the project at the 'lining end'.

Snipping the pockets open...

...to remove the thin plastic resists within.

The finished felt on one side...

...and on the other.

Turning the project inside-out...

...and sewing the 'lining end' mostly closed...

...leaving a small opening...

...for turning it right side out again...

...then hand-stitching the opening closed.

Because this project is both outer layer and lining in one...

...it's rather simple to 'assemble' the bag once the felting is complete.

By temporarily turning the bag inside out in order to stitch the lining closed...

...I avoid an ugly seam on the inside of the purse.

Next time: the finished bag...

...with leather accents.

Soooo beautiful color. Whenever I see your layering I love it, particularly this reddish/ yellowish. Very cheerful. Eager to see the finished look. I can't imagine how it looks. Your mum must love it.

Beautiful effects with the handdyed roving, Heather...what a great method for laying those out in a way that shows them off best!
Looking forward to the next post!

Mattie--I like this project because it's pretty straightforward. I've been working on a more intricate purse this week, and I'm still not sure 'where' I am with it! Grin.
Fiona--Thanks! I'll pass on your compliment to my friend, Lorin! XO-

I can't really even wrap my brain about how you are doing this, but it is lovely. Your color choices just blow me away.
