Voila! The completed bag...

Because of its 'wide mouth' opening...
...I needed to create a different kind of closure this time.
Using trimmed pieces of green leather...
...I fashioned a long strap and a loop for the leather button flap.
The 'footer' provides a reinforced area on the back of the purse...
...for the strap attachment...
...and the button is easily sewn to the bag...
...through the holes punched in the leather flap.

It's a great success - so bright and distinctive it will be impossible to lose, too!
Wow, this looks so great and fun at the sametime, love it Heather!
It looks lovely. Do you need a special foot or needle on your sewing machine to cope with the leather?
I haven't been able to read your blog this weekend and now I see that the bag is finished already.
It looks wonderfull. The closure I like a lot. And the colours are bright and beautifull.

So cute! You are really clever, Heather :)
I noticed last week and today that my comments on your blog don't get posted.
Maybe I did something wrong.
But I wanted to tell you that the purse is really nice and the closure I find very special.
