Pink "Retirement" Purse- Part 2 of 2

Pinning the fabric lining and handle to the bag, prior to sewing.

The finished purse...

...and in close-up...

...and closer, still..

...(here, showing the top-stitching detail on the bag flap).

The reverse side...

...and in close-up.

Tiny (yet strong) earth magnets wrapped in fabric provide the closure.

The fabric-lined bag interior...

...with ladybugs and flowers!

I found a piece of pink seersucker fabric in my stash...

...and used it to make the purse lining.

I machine-stitched around the bag opening...

...and the edge of the front flap, as well.

After trimming some of the excess felt from the flap...

...I sewed earth magnets into little fabric 'pockets'...

...and stitched them onto the bag for a closure.

I fashioned the handle from a length of denim fabric...

...cut from a discarded pair of jeans.

Really pretty bag Heather. It has a very warm, happy energy - I'm sure your friend will love it and get lots of use from it! I like the fabric wrapped magnet closure & OMG that ladybug fabric is so cute - perfect lining for this piece!

Deborah--Thanks! It's so much fun to try to find just the right fabric to line these bags! :)

What are earth magnets?

I like the simple motif that reminds me of flames. The finish work on this purse looks very nice. She will love it!

Elizabeth--Sorry for the confusion. They're really called rare-earth magnets. You can read about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare-earth_magnet XXO-

I love this bag! Also love the "confetti" effect.

But then, most all of your bags are super. :)

Charming, rather formal, and brilliantly colourful!

Denise--Interesting...you saw 'confetti', I was thinking more of a 'Danish modern design repeat'. :)
Rachel--Yes, hahaha...not everyone likes as 'wild' a purse as I do!!!!
