"Purse-travaganza"! Part 5 of ?

Adding additional layers of fiber to each side...

...ending with a layer of white merino...

...for a light and bright purse interior.

Applying layers of wool and decorative elements...

...to a bubble wrap pocket resist.

                                                      Mid-way through felting...

                                                    ...the resist is removed...

...and the purse is turned right-side out.

As I roll, the bag is folded in various ways...

                                              ...for even shrinkage during felting.

A 'felting stone' aids in shaping its rounded base.

                                                            After some time...

...the bag achieves its final shape and size.

(Note how aggressively the Karakul fibers...

                                            ...migrate through the white lining!)

Next time: the finished purse with leather strap and closure.

It will be such a treat to peer into the bag and see the decoration on the pocket as well!

Rachel--I got the idea to decorate internal pockets from my friend, Deborah (Felter's Journey). On some of them, I add a decorative top edge so it's easy to slip things into them. :)
