As the felting continues...
...texture begins to appear.

If you look closely...
...you'll see indentations in the felt where the linen 'cut-outs' are.
The yarn side...
...which boasts a highly textured surface.
See the yarn swirls, buried under the silk?
It surprised me how this rather outrageous fabric...
...became so much more sedate-looking after it was felted!
Unfortunately, only after the project was finished, did I realize...
...that these surface design experiments would have been much more visible...
...if I had used a solid-colored piece of silk! :(

This is stunning! I love how the fabric changed through felting.
That sounds like a perfect excuse for further experimentation - although I must say I like the look of this one, too!
The blue fibres creeping through have really calmed the print down haven't they?! It's really pretty now with the blue hue :)
They're very interesting techniques Heather.. I really like the texture effects you got. And it's the best sort of sampler.. one you can use :)
