While in Portugal, I fiddled around with some wool pencil roving...
...that I found in a local fiber mill.
After placing it on the surface of the resist...
...I covered it with layers of white wool roving and felted it inside-out.
The suede side of a piece of black leather was used to fashion the strap and buttonhole...
...and a ceramic button completes the project.

wow wow, I really love this one a beauty!!
Kim-Thanks so much! The pencil roving was made from a coarse kind of wool, so the texture is quite lovely, up-close.
Cute! Love the button and leather, Heather.
that's kind of magical. lovely job!
And you end up with one very handsome bag!! I had heard of pencil roving, but never seen it. My, but that is thin stuff. It worked wonderful as a decoration for the bag though! Very nice indeed! :)
Lindy--Thanks! I'm really looking forward to seeing you!
Katie--Why thank you! :)
Sandie--Pencil roving looks like soft, fat yarn! :)
