Egg Cozies
My family is very fond of 3-minute eggs for breakfast...
...and we have them quite often.
We have all of the usual accoutrements needed for making eggs like this...
...an implement to pierce a small hole in one end, an 'egg-perfect' egg timer, egg spoons and lots of different styles of egg cups.
I've been wanting to make some 'egg cozies' for some time now...
...large enough to fit over both the egg and the egg cup, keeping everything nice and toasty.
I made these using foam underlayment as a resist...
...and I laid out the needle-felted designs face down , before adding layers of fiber.
(You know how I love making things inside-out!)
After felting each cozy until I could 'pinch it' without pulling away loose fibers...
...I cut the bottoms, removed the resists, turned them right-side-out and continued felting them until they were done.
For the cat cozy, I made an awake side and a napping side...
...and for the 'egg' cozy, a sleepy (or wincing?) cracked side and a happy, flower-shaped-yolk side!
The yolk flower was a fully felted piece, given to me (along with the other delightful felting supplies that you see here)...
...by my sweet friend, Sally.
Since it was already felt, it didn't 'want' to stick to the wool roving as well as a pre-felt piece would...
...so I tacked down the reluctant places with a bit of hand embroidery.
I've shown the 'fit' using some pysanky eggs that we wax-resist dyed last Easter...
...and they work great!!

Those are adorable!
Hi Heather,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm thrilled that you like it! I've only done a very small amount of intentional felting (and some unintentional too!). Your egg cosies are lovely. And I do like your pysanky eggs. We saw lots of these when we spent Easter in Poland a couple of years ago.
Just found you via JosieKitten's blog! And wanted to say that I don't think there's anything in this world more adorable and irresistable than a labrador puppy! Especially one that looks so happy and waggly as Mason! He's going to be a smart and cheeky chap when he's older :) I'll try and keep up with your blog too as I'm interested to see your felting - it's something I've never done apart from by accident (like JK!)! But I do have felting needles, and as I spin I have fibre too...
Best wishes, Vikki
I LOVE your egg cozies! Especially the one that looks like an egg. Too much! It "cracked" me up. LOL
:)
Beautiful, clever, funny egg cosies! Breakfast will be greatly improved with these little smile makers.
Cheers
Loani
I like you pysanka. For me gimeet value with some thoughts written pisanka, but not its appearance. So that any Easter egg is the best! :-)

Lena--Thanks for your nice comment and the link for pysanky!!
