NYC Visit- Part 1 (The High Line)

Two of my daughters and I...

...spent Thanksgiving weekend in New York City.

We enjoyed a glorious Autumn morning...

                                                 ...walking atop the High Line...

...an 'urban promenade' built on an elevated section of a disused railroad line.

The lush plantings are inspired by the self-seeded landscape...

...that grew on the tracks during the intervening years...

                                             ...after the trains stopped running...

...and the views of the city from the former tracks...

...are filled with both architectural delights...

                                                        ...and natural ones.

My darling daughters, en plein air! :)

Contemporary (and often controversial) art adorns the space...

...and the High Line ends directly in front of our second stop...

                                                     ...the Whitney Museum!

                                           Next time: incredible American art.

The High Line does seem like a lovely idea. A garden in the sky...!
