Weaving With Wool Roving- Part 1 of 3

For this project...

...I used white wool yarn as my weft...

...and variegated and white wool roving as my warp.

I removed every other peg in the loom...

...to accommodate the thickness of the roving.

Removing the finished project from the loom...

...and knotting off the fringed ends.

After fulling the project in my washing machine..

...(along with a couple of bath towels for additional friction)...

...the project narrowed quite a bit...

                                               ...and thickened a great deal.

Because I loosened the weaving before fulling...

...the weft threads are slightly visible in the finished piece.

                                                      The completed weaving.

                                            Next time: another fulled weaving...

...made from 'blobs' of tatty roving and yarn remnants.

The variegated with the white looks really pretty! It's a great way of using lots of spare fibre fast :) looking forward to seeing how you use them xx

Thanks, Rachel! I've made two more...each a bit different...but I was happy to be using up a lot of my 'elderly and tatty' white roving!! :)
