Compost Bin Cover Redux

As you can see...

...my felt compost bin cover was looking a little worse for wear...

...despite Mother Nature's decorating efforts! :)

So...I laid out layers of colorful, variegated wool roving...

...and covered them with black wool roving...

...then wetted the project out.

Mid-way through felting.

The finished felt.

There...much better! :)

considering you are using natural fiber to cover your compost, I assumed you knew that Mother Nature would take it's toll. You will probably have to make a new one on a yearly basis, if not sooner. I must say, it's very pretty though. :)

How long does the felt survive in the wind and weather?

Sandie and Rachel-The felt lasts about a year and insulates the compost and keeps it warm in the winter...plus, it's pretty! :)

It certainly does look pretty! At least the lid didn't need replacing :)
