A Plethora of Peculiar Projects- Part 12 ('Chicken Drumsticks' Purse)

Turning in the raw edges...

...and adding a stitched-on design element to the flap.

Sandwiching the foam resist between two layers of pre-felt.

Stitching around the edges of the bag...

...to help hold the layers together during felting.

Cutting rectangles of pre-felt...

...and stitching them into 'tubes' (with painter's plastic acting as a resist)...

...to form 'chicken drumsticks'! :)

Sewing them to the body of the bag...

...in preparation for final felting.

My original intention for this purse was to make exterior 'tubes'...

...which would make for easy placement of a leather or woven handle after felting.

I stitched rectangles of pre-felt into cylinders...

...and patency was achieved...

...by filling them with thin 'painter's plastic', prior to felting.

Next time: you'll understand why I call them 'chicken drumsticks'...

...plus details about my annual blog anniversary give-away! :)

I rather like the "fuzzy" look the bag has now, but I guess that will all be gone after it's felted? Oh well, it's looking good so far. Looking forward to the finished bag. :)

Hoping the sun is shining upon your face today.

I'm not sure whether I can visualise how this is going to work yet, but I love the colours!

Sandie--It's definitely less fuzzy after felting! :)
Rachel--Hahaha...in a word it doesn't...work, that is...but it was an interesting idea, anyway! :)
Aly--Making your own pre-felt is easy and you can make it any color you like!
