"Victor-Victoria" Scarf Set- Part 1 of 2

Laying out sections of a wool roving batt...

...studded with cotton dots in many colors.

Adding variegated green roving stripes.

Partially felting it and letting it dry.

Cutting the pre-felt piece into two.

For the 'Victor' scarf...

...the ends were merely stitched together with nylon thread...

...prior to final felting.

For the 'Victoria' scarf...

...the ends were stitched together like above...

...plus, cuts were made into the pre-felt...

...prior to final felting.

A close-up view.

In the 1982 gender-bending movie, "Victor Victoria"...

...Julie Andrews played a woman...

...pretending to be a man...

...pretending to be a woman(!)

This film was the inspiration for these two scarves...

...(fraternal male/female twins, as it were)...

...made from one long piece of pre-felt.

Next time: the finished scarves (Christmas gifts)...

...one for a man...

...and one for a woman.

I remember seeing that film on TV once. I must admit it didn't inspire any textile thoughts in me, but what a wonderful idea!

I'm thinking they are orange and green, yes? I love them. The colors look great together. It's so hard sometimes, when taking photos, to get the colors to show up accurately, unless you are professional. LOL

Rachel-Hahaha..you make me laugh!
Sandie-You're right...the scarves are rust-orange (with colored specks in other colors) and variegated green.

Deborah-The orange wool is a batt-like thing that I bought from Wollknoll. It has the colored cotton dots 'in' the batt itself...quite fun! XO-
