The finished tote...

                                                ...with its 'riot of color' patches...

     
                                               ...is quite sturdy and capacious...

                                             ...and certainly won't be mistaken...

                                                     ...for anyone else's bag! ;)

                               I'll be taking an extended break from writing my blog...

                                        ...for travel, volunteering and 'family stuff'.

                                            Never fear, though, loyal readers...

                               ...I'll return when I again have interesting projects...

                                       ...and the time to share them properly.

                                               During the 'freeing' of the resist...

                      ...the felt could have been trimmed to make smaller 'scales'...

                                    ...revealing more of the dark, background wool.

                                                                           
                                                           On the grid side...

                    ...the yarn inclusions could have been made more visible...

                                 ...if the scales had been trimmed a bit smaller, too.

                                                                For my part...

                          ...I prefer having only a wee glimpse into the darkness. ;)

                                       A strip of leather is cut from a large sheet...

                                                     ...fashioned into handles...

                                          ...and stitched to the mouth of the bag.

Pieced Purse Revisited- Part 4

                       It's interesting to note how the colors of the printed silk change...

                                 ...depending on the color of the wool underneath!

Cutting a leather strap for the bag...

                                       ...and attaching it to the felt hanging loops.

                                                     The jewel-like colors...

                                             ...and patterns of the finished felt...

                                                     ...bear little resemblance...

                                           ...to those of the original silk scarves.

                                       ...and open (displaying the internal pocket).

Re-Purposed 'Skirt Totes'- Part 4

By now...

                                         ...you probably already 'know the drill'. ;)

                                    The lining is fashioned and sewn to the bag...

                                                      ...then tucked inside...

                                                           ...and top-stitched...

                                     
                                                 ...and the straps are added.

                                             Because the tote was once a skirt...

                                ...the extant pockets (some with velcro closures)...

                                                         ...are pretty handy...

                                            ...for securely holding cash, tissues...

                                             ...or foam earplugs (on long flights).

                                           The three 'Skirt Totes' (back sides)...

                                                           ...and fronts!
