...and the front.
A close-up of its highly textured surface...
...and here...
...and here, too. :)
I don't often 'play favorites' with my projects...
...but I have to admit that this rug really makes me smile.
After felting, the pre-felt snippets just 'melted' into the rug's surface...
...and the cotton gauze ruched up beautifully, giving this piece a very soft, pebbly texture.
The colors from the bottom layers of art batts migrated through the cotton layer, as well...
...adding to the absolute 'riot of color' in this piece! :)

can imagine this one of your favourites, it's beautiful, colorful, lovely and all the other nice words which i don't know the english expression for:)
It looks really vivid and cheerful - a good sight at this time of year!
I don't know why but it reminds me of the opening ceremonie of the olympics. Colorful and urban! hugzz...peebee
wow! this is fantastic - i love the design and the colours work perfectly :)x
Riet--Thanks...those adjectives were plenty!!! :)
Rachel--Thanks! It IS vivid!!
Peebee-I like that!!
Tracey--Thanks!!
It's simply fabulous! I'd redecorate a whole room to fit that into my home!
Vicki--Thank you for your very kind comment!!
The carpet pretty and merry.
Hello Heather, thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a nice comment. I just browsed your log and I'm impressed with your beautiful work. Luciana
Absolutely lovely Heather.. I think both sides are beautiful!
How big is it?
x
Forgot to say, I think this is a great way of using up all of those oddly shaped snippets (which I too obsessively hoard - just can't throw em away :)
x
Grazyna--Thank you!
Luciana--Thank you. I'm glad you stopped by!!
Deborah--Thanks! It's wrapped at the moment, but I think it's between 3 and 4 feet square. Yes...there's no such thing as a useless piece of pre-felt, no matter how small!
You should play favorites, that rug is awesome! I've never felted anything, I need to get on it!
Beautiful! Love how this turned out!!
Thanks, KC! Yes...try a project sometime...you'll be hooked! :)
Kelly--Thanks so much!!
Your daughter is going to have one of the most beautiful rugs of all time, and hand-made to boot! Wow, that is amazing. The colors just pop at you, and I totally love it!
Congratulations on a piece exceedingly well done! :)
Thanks for coming over to say hi on my blog recently. Your work is fantastic, this rug is amazing - I actually love the subtle back of it with all those lovely blues merging into the pinks and other colours. Do hope you have a very Happy Christmas xx
Sandie--Thanks!! Not much green, though!! Grin.
FH--I'm so glad you stopped by!!
The back is interesting, isn't it?
When the pre-felt flattened out on the front, it 'popped' the back out in places in some interesting shapes!! :)
Amazing, this is so completely cool!!!
Wow this looks amazing, such a lot of work but what a great present for your daughter :) Beautiful
This is spectecular, it reminds me of Cubism or Picaso, all those shapes, yet it is harmonious. It would make an eye-catching wall piece. Love & peace to you, Heather!
Melissa--Thanks! :)
Karen--When it pleases you at the end, I think it's a bit like childbirth, isn't it? No memory of the pain!! Giggle.
Monika--You're right and I have a feeling that she'll end up using it on the wall. We made a raw fleece rug together this summer that she uses on the floor, and she only has a small single room in a house that she shares with other renters. XXO-
