Our Rug Class- Felter's Fling 2013 (Part 1 of ?)

Day 1: Mountains of intensely-colored batts...

...greet us in the studio.

 
 Our wonderful instructors...

Cushiony, vibrant color fills the room...

 
...and I had a nearly irresistible urge to mound some of this lovely, autumnal wool up in a corner...

...and to jump into it, like a pile of leaves!! :)

 
Here, Dominique begins her layout.

 
She adds surface detail, turns the edges in...

...and continues (for quite a long while!) to felt the piece.

 
Her beautiful finished rug!

 
Next time: more incredible 'fiber-to-rug' transformations! :)

It'a amazing to see how thick and how MUCH wool was there at the start of the rug, and then see how flat and smooth it was, at the finish. Just amazing to a non-felter like me. LOL
