Wrist warmers...
...and sculptures.
Sample rugs...
...and mini-yurts.
3-D felt forms...
...resist dyeing...
...and yurt bags!
I hope that these photos give you a sense of the amazing diversity of classes taught at this year's 'Fling'...
...and the incredible talent of its participants!
It was thrilling to be in the company of some of the most capable and inventive feltmakers in the world...
...in an informal atmosphere where we could share meals and spend time together as friends.
Working together with other students, learning from each other and our teachers...
...we formed instant bonds of friendship and community.
For a felter like me (used to working mostly alone)...
...it was a rare and exceptional week of creative energy and inspiration...
...and one I won't soon forget!

The sense of achievement from learning something new is always a great buzz, and when it's accompanied by much laughter and great conversation, it makes for a very memorable few days...

Michelle--I know, wasn't I?? My garment-making class spanned the entire week, so I did not take anything else at "Fling", but I will soon be taking a wonderful resist dyeing class with the DELIGHTFUL Chad Alice Hagen, so I know I will be learning a lot there, too!! (SO EXCITED...can you tell?!?!?!)
I would so like to attend "a fling" :--)
MP--Well, you have two years to plan and save $$ for it (the next Fling is in 2013). It would be so fab to meet you in person and I know you would just love being with so many talented feltmakers!!
