Drafting a pattern on craft paper...
...and cutting a resist from foam floor underlayment.
Adding a lower jaw and a snout with taped-on bits of foam.
Covering the resist with white merino roving...
...and using a small piece of thin plastic...
...to keep the added bits from felting in.
The project is flipped to side two...
...and wool from side one is wrapped up and around the resist.
Additional layers of roving are added...
...to each side...
...plus wool from colorful batts...
...and a bit of pencil roving.
The project is flipped to side two...
...in preparation for additional colored wool.
With my first grandchild on the way (very soon!)...
...(and inspired by Yaroslava Troynich's charming creatures)...
...I decided to try my hand (!) at puppet-making.
Next time: Herman begins to take shape.
